Festival of the Arts welcomes back GRFTA for Festival 2020

The success of last year’s partnership provided a road map for another year of engagement! Festival has expanded the footprint for Food Trucks for this year allowing for additional trucks to participate.

The Food Trucks offer a great compliment to the traditional Festival food booth program comprised of area non-profits. For those Food Trucks that were a part of the 2019 Festival of the Arts, thank you! We hope you’ll consider returning. With last year’s participants’ financial success, we believe more of you will want to be a part of our event.

The Grand Rapids Food Truck Association will continue to serve as the fiduciary and collect all funds due to Festival of the Arts. You will receive a receipt letter after Festival receives your payment.

Requirements for Participation


You must be an operating and licensed food truck in Grand Rapids, live within Kent County or one of the 7 contiguous counties and follow all rules and regulations with your operation.


The fee to operate a Truck for 2020 is $500 per day or $1,250 for all three days plus 5% of pre-tax sales exceeding $2,500 per day. The fee is payable to the Food Truck Association Sunday evening as festival closes or on the last day you have committed to participating. Checks should be made payable to Festival of the Arts. If you sign the contract and do not show, you will be charged a flat fee of $1,000. You can choose to make an additional donation to Festival of the Arts and will receive additional documentation for any gift above the stated rate.


Festival will include your truck name and menu description in the 10,000 print run Festival of the Arts program produced by MLive. Food Truck Row is listed in the Festival program as well as in the Festival website and on the kiosks located throughout the festival footprint.


There is a $35 application fee that should be submitted with this signed application. The fee is non-refundable.


You must operate for these full hours of each day that you select below.
Friday, June 5 – 11am-11pm
Saturday, June 6 – 11am-11pm
Sunday, June 7 – 10am-6pm


You are responsible for your sales tax payments.


Festival curates the menu selections so that there is no duplication with other food booths or trucks. We kindly suggest when there is duplication, that our food truck partners alter their menu since we regulate the number of selections with our food booths.


There are a limited number of spaces available. Applications will be reviewed and selections approved by the Festival of the Arts Food Committee. Please submit your application to GRFTA or complete the on-line application by March 8, 2020. Festival will notify you if your application has been accepted by March 22.


Food Trucks must comply with all State and Local laws related to Mobile Food Vending.
