Maggie Clifford-Bandstra is a west Michigan-based artist. Her paintings are nature-inspired abstractions. She is playing with uplifting colors and abstract shapes. Her work includes hidden symbols emphasizing our human connection to nature and our need for connection to reduce anxiety and escape the stresses of everyday life. As a child, her parents would take her to the Festival of the Arts, and she fondly remembers spending hours in the Glue-in tent. As a teen, she would wander the event with friends enjoying the music, food, and friendship. Clifford-Bandstra graduated in 2021 with an M.F.A. in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design. She retired from Hudsonville public schools in 2020. She is currently an adjunct ceramics Professor at Hope College and works part-time at Ox-Bow School of Art and Artists Residency as the Manager of Retail Programming.
